July at Lake Carey

It sure has been a while since our last post, and a lot has happened. We had a chance to vacation with the DeCarlo's at Lake Carey and as you will see Kai had a great time. In the meantime, we found out some other exciting news. Kai is going to have a baby SISTER!!!!! I know, we cannot believe it either! Well, enjoy the pics.

Birthday parties, presents and the Zoo!

So June brought Kai's first birthday, as you can see from the pictures below. Just a couple quick notes, Kai is walking around now. He likes to do so holding someone's hand most of the time, but he is getting more confident every day and taking more and more steps on his own. It is very fun to watch, just ask his grandparents! They sure do get a kick out of it! I'll try to post a video of him walking soon.

It is also the start of summer vacation for us all, well, all of us teachers! I will be spending the summer with the family and taking over spending the days with Kai for Gramma Mi-Mi, no matter how hard she cries! Just kidding, she is still getting to spend plenty of time with him, there's no keeping her away!

Kristina is feeling good during her 17th week of pregnancy, very tired though. She says she feels different with this pregnancy than the last one...uh, oh. Kai may be getting a sibling with a different chromosome makeup, definitely different than what we are expecting! We will find out next month and let everyone know!

Here is the Birthday boy and his mommy on his big day. What cuties!
Here is Kai, Daddy and the guest of honor...the pig we all scarfed down! Mmmmmmm!
Happy 1st Birthday, big boy!
Big boy didn't love his cupcake, he put his hand in the frosting, and then just looked around and waited for Mommy to wipe it off, he didn't even eat any! That's Ok, no sugar for that little boy anyway!

The next few pics are Kai playing with all the great birthday gifts he received from family and friends.
Nice kick, little Beckham! Gotta start him young!
"Old MacDonald had a farm..."
Thanks, Carla, he loves his magnets!
Nice laptop! Now he wont beg to play with Mommy's! Well, yeah, he still will! But he likes to play with his too, now. Thanks Nan and Poppy!
Here is Kai playing his drums like his uncle Matt! Thanks, Mi-Mi.
By the way, like the Phillies jammies?!! Go Phils!
The Phillies will always have special meaning for Mommy and Daddy since we watched a Phils game the Sunday Kai was born, while Kristina was in labor. Even Kristina watches the games now!
This was his gift from his Mommy and Daddy, a Radio Flyer wagon...
...which he loves to ride in on walks as you can see! "Sit down you little daredevil!!!"
Here is Kai and Mommy on our first trip to the zoo. This was a Christmas gift from Grampa and Mi-Mi Schultz and it has been great. We have been a few times and he really likes being there because he loves being outside so much and walking with mommy and daddy. He really likes the Bird house because the birds fly all around you and he points at all of them. And he likes to see the monkeys jumping around. I'm sure he'll grow to love the zoo more and more with each visit.

A little news...

Hello everyone, we are quickly approaching Kai's first birthday, June 8, 2009. He seems to be growing quickly lately, but differently. He was growing outwards, now he seems to be getting longer and taller, which is good. I don't think he could have gotten much wider! But he is moving around a lot, and standing up on everything, as you'll be able to see from the pictures. He loves standing, so it wont be long until he starts taking off. He walks, but only when someone holds his hands. The other night he took a step from the ottoman over to the couch, but since then if he needs to get somewhere quickly (like over to Casey's dogfood!!!) he gets down and crawls. Oh yeah, by the way, we have a little news, too. Literally, about 2 inches right now, since Kristina is in her 11th week. Yes, Kai is going to have a little brother! Well, we are not sure of the sex yet, but come on, who are we kidding??? Love you all, and if you are around on June 6th, we are going to have a BBQ at our house in the afternoon, around 3ish, stop by for some cupcakes with the family!

"I am pretty sure I can scale this vanity, watch this! Spiderman, Spiderman, does whatever a spider can..."
"Give me that camera, Dad, NOW! I want to take some pictures, too"

"Um, Dad, how about a little privacy? I'm trying to use the john!"

The boys' morning weekend routine: Sportscenter and a bottle

Little boy loves the swings. We pass this park on our evening walks with Casey and he gets to swing a little. He loves our walks and just loves to be outside.

"OOOO0000000hhhhhhhh"

"That's right, I tamed this dinosaur, WITH ONE HAND!!!"

Here is a video of Kai and Casey, it is pretty funny if you have a couple minutes to watch. Kai really enjoys sharing his snacks with Casey, and as you can imagine, Casey doesn't mind either!

Kai is not really saying much English yet, but as you will be able to hear on the video, he sure is saying a lot of baby talk. I just wish I spoke 'baby' to hear what he was saying! You can also see how much he loves just hanging outside.

Here is the little boy in the morning when mommy goes in to get him.

Spring is finally here!!!

Hello to everyone, sorry it has been a while since our last posting. We have had a tough time recently, with the passing of Grandma Schultz last week and her services in Jamestown. We didn't take too many pictures, but even under such somber circumstances, it was therapeutic to see everyone in New York. Thank you to everyone who came to Grandma's service and came to the luncheon to share pleasant thoughts and memories about Grandma. Here are a few pics from the last few weeks and one of Grandma and Kai when they met last November.

Enjoying one of the recent warm days in the back yard with mommy and his special baseball bat handed down from my dad, to me, to Kai.

Working out back with his rake. That izod shirt he is wearing was mine when I was his age, that mom found in the attic. Well, I was probably a bit older than him since he is such a big boy!

"Daddy, are my feet going to be as ugly as yours? Please say no."

Having Easter dinner at Uncle Matt and Aunt Debbie's. "Uh, did someone say there was chocolate cake for desert?"

"Look, mom, one handed!"

Hiding in the laundry basket

Kai and his Great Grandma last November, when we went to Falconer for deer season

And another pic of Grandma that everyone enjoyed at the service, it seemed to show the side of her everyone remembers: having fun, laughing, mischievous, with that twinkle in her eye. Shirley Schultz (1933-2009)

Happy Easter!

Below are a few new pics and a video of the little boy crawling all around. He is starting to get pretty quick too, and a handful to watch! Enjoy!

Here is Kai paying tribute to the 2006 World Cup champs, Italia!

Little boy is becoming a big boy before our eyes! "Look, one-handed!"

That baseball bat he has was given to me when I was born by my dad, and it has been passed down to little Kai. He is a real hitter, he can hit anything with that bat...the wall, the floor, the table, the lamps, etc. Someday he may even hit a ball with that bat!

Here is a video of the little boy crawling around. He's gonna be a terror soon...
